By devoting a whole topic collection to sex and gender in public health, the renowned medical journal, BMJ Public Health, is sending an important signal: sex- and gender-informed approaches are yet to be systematically embedded in research, practice and policy. This collection on the “Influence of Sex and Gender on Public Health” seeks to close this gap.
The editors are looking for original research, systematic reviews and commentaries on a wide range of public health issues – from any discipline and geographic region.
Researchers are invited to submit manuscripts by 1 October 2026 to help contribute to the growing international body of knowledge. In addition to reports on completed studies, the journal also explicitly welcomes papers on protocols and methods.
