Community of Practice on Gender Medicine and Health holds second peer-to-peer exchange
On 14 September 2026, the Community of Practice held its second workshop with about 70 participants – NRP 83-researchers and other interested parties from the fields of research, practice, education and politics.

At the second peer-to-peer exchange organised by the Community of Practice (CoP) on Gender Medicine and Health, which took place as part of this year’s NRP 83 Annual Meeting in Biel/Bienne, participants discussed seven topics within seven working groups. Four topics appeared on the agenda for the second time: intersectionality in qualitative research, education, language and the inclusion of new stakeholders. Three new working groups were added, focusing on intersectionality in quantitative methods, data access, and inter- and transdisciplinarity.
The questions ranged from the systematic integration of intersectionality into research designs, through the embedding of sex- and gender-sensitive content in the education system, to facilitating access to existing research data. From the question to the answer
The aim of this second exchange was to explore the questions raised at the outset in greater depth and to define them more clearly. Participants built on the discussions from the first meeting and worked on developing tangible approaches based on their initial considerations. The focus was on ensuring that the collaborative work within the groups would result not only in further dialogue, but also in concrete solutions and outputs, such as recommendations, guidelines or concepts. These would benefit the entire community and actively advance the further development of gender medicine and health in Switzerland.
A platform for direct exchange
The CoP sees itself as a vibrant forum where researchers and everyone committed to gender medicine and health can learn together and play an active role in shaping the future of the field.
By bringing together perspectives from research, practice, teaching, policy and key stakeholders, the CoP aims to identify gaps in the current situation and address them through new approaches and concepts.
The CoP is open to anyone who is interested in the impact of sex and gender on health and wishes to contribute to the development of practical solutions, whether as researchers, healthcare professionals, representatives of educational institutions and professional bodies, patients or decision-makers.
Next Community of Practice meeting
The Community of Practice will continue to hold regular workshops in future. The next joint meeting will take place in spring 2027. Until then, some of the working groups will continue to work on their issues individually.
