First peer-to-peer exchange of the Community of Practice on Gender Medicine and Health

On 28 May 2026, the Community of Practice will hold its first online workshop. Our researchers, as well as other interested parties from the fields of research, practice, education and politics, are invited to attend.
In early October 2025, we officially launched NRP 83 with a kick-off event. At the same time, the Community of Practice on Gender Medicine and Health was launched. Researchers from the 19 funded projects discussed which issues they would like to explore and develop further in collaboration with stakeholders from research, practice, education and politics.
A platform for direct exchange
Through the Community of Practice (CoP), we aim to create a dynamic, collaborative platform for exchange and shared learning – for our researchers and everyone committed to gender medicine and health who wishes to help shape its future development.
By bringing together perspectives from research, practice, education and policy, the CoP aims to help identify existing gaps and bridge them with new approaches and concepts.
The CoP is open in particular to researchers, healthcare professionals, representatives from educational institutions and professional associations, patients and decision-makers who are interested in the impact of sex and gender on health and wish to contribute to the development of concrete solutions.
First peer-to-peer exchange organised by the Community of Practice
We are delighted to announce the Community of Practice’s first online workshop: on Thursday 28 May 2026, participants will work together on four key questions from 1.30 pm to 5.00 pm. These questions were jointly identified by the NRP 83 research teams at the kick-off event in October 2025.
The following issues will be discussed:
“How can intersectionality be systematically integrated into qualitative research designs – from recruitment through to analysis and interpretation?” (Intersectionality Working Group)
“How can gender-sensitive content be integrated into educational frameworks for health and medicine and implemented within the federal education system?” (Education Working Group)
“How can language- and culture-sensitive guidelines on gender and diversity be developed for multilingual Switzerland?” (Language Working Group)
“How can key stakeholders who have so far been less aware of gender issues in medicine and public health be reached and engaged?” (Engagement Working Group)
The language of discussion is determined by the respective working group. As a rule, this is in English or follows the principle of “chacun-e dans sa langue” (everyone in their own language).
If you would like to contribute to a specific topic, we would be delighted to hear from you. We will consider your participation depending on the topic and the composition of the group, ensuring a balanced representation of different perspectives. You can find further information about the Peer-to-Peer Exchange and details on how to get in touch on our website.
Another CoP meeting in the autumn
The Community of Practice will be holding regular workshops in future. The next – in-person – meeting is scheduled for 14 September 2026 – further details will follow after the peer-to-peer exchange in May.
