Regine Maritz joins Beatrice Schibler on the programme management team for NRP 83. During her academic career, the historian has focused on gender issues from a cultural-historical perspective.

Regine Maritz succeeds Julien Leuthold as Programme Manager; he had been fulfilling this role on an interim basis until the end of 2025. The historian, whose research focuses on the cultural and political history of gender, the body and violence, studied at Queen’s University Belfast, where she completed a Bachelor’s degree in Modern History and International Relations before moving to the University of Cambridge. There she completed her Master’s degree and obtained a PhD in Modern History.

Before joining the Swiss National Science Foundation in June 2025, Regine Maritz spent two years working at the University of Fribourg in the university’s research funding office. Her career has always been characterised by a keen interest in gender from a cultural-historical perspective. In 2025, she published a book on the subject: “Gendered Practices of Rulership at the Court of Württemberg, 1568–1634”.

“I am very much looking forward to learning more about the individual project topics and supporting the researchers and the steering committee in their important work,” says Regine Maritz of her new role.

We are delighted to have Regine on board with NRP 83!
